FAQ - Why do I need a wine cellar, can I store them in my garage or pantry?
Bottles should not be stored where odors in the air could contaminate the wine, such as in the garage where oil and gasoline vapors can pass through the cork and into the wine.
Also, wine should be stored at a constant temperature and humidity. Ideal conditions are in the range of 53-62 degrees Fahrenheit and a relative humidity of between 65-75%. Some fluctuation is acceptable but it is important that the changes are gradual. Large seasonal temperature swings that can occur in a closet, pantry or other part of the house can be the ruin of fine wine.

FAQ - Why is it best to store wine on it's side?
Bottles should be stored on their sides in order to keep the cork wet and the seal secure (dry corks shrink and allow oxygen in too quickly, thus spoiling the wine.)

FAQ - Do I need a basement to have a wine cellar?
Modern insulation and cooling units can duplicate the conditions of an underground cellar anywhere in the house.
A basement cellar is constructed more passively. The subsoil under a basement has a natural resistance to temperature change and exhibits near ideal conditions for wine storage year round.
